Clyde Nyle Kalin Carson Parrish, popularly known as Clyde Carson, is a talented American rapper from Oakland, California, born on June 2, 1981. Initially rising to fame as a member of the hip hop group The Team, he later pursued a solo career after the group’s hiatus. Signed to The Game’s The Black Wall Street Records and Capitol Records in 2006, he released the EP Doin’ That before returning to release music independently via Moe Doe Entertainment. Carson is known for blending hyphy with street-styled rap, and has released two EPs, Bass Rock and Playboy. His hit song “Slow Down” was featured in the video game Grand Theft Auto V.

Carson’s musical journey began with the release of his debut mixtape The Story Vol. 1 in 2001, selling it from the trunk of his car. Moving to New York City for a year, he collaborated with producer Ty Fyffe and attended studio sessions with renowned rappers like Jay-Z and Cam’ron. In 2002, he formed The Team with fellow Bay Area rappers Mayne Mannish and Kaz Kyzah, achieving local success with their album World Premiere. Through the support of rapper The Game and Black Wall Street Records, Carson signed with Moedoe and Capitol Records in 2006, releasing his debut retail EP, Doin’ That. Despite plans for a debut album, it was pushed back indefinitely, and Carson was eventually released from Capitol in 2009.

Following his departure from Capitol, Carson released his second EP Bass Rock, and reunited with The Team in 2011 for the song “Slow Down.” His mixtape, S.T.S.A. (Something To Speak About) was well-received, featuring guest appearances from prominent artists like E-40, Iamsu!, Problem, and B-Legit. In 2014, Carson released his third solo EP, Playboy, which received positive reviews and peaked at number 23 on the US Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart. With plans to release S.T.S.A. Part II and tour, Clyde Carson continues to make his mark on the hip hop scene.
