Nathaniel Dwayne Hale, known professionally as Nate Dogg, was born on August 19, 1969, and gained recognition as the “King of Hooks” for his guest vocals on numerous hit rap songs between 1992 and 2007. Nate Dogg began his career in the early 1990s as a member of the trio 213 alongside his cousin Snoop Dogg and friend Warren G. His breakout success came in 1994 when he was featured on Warren G’s hit single “Regulate,” reaching number two on the Billboard Hot 100. Nate Dogg became a fixture in West Coast hip hop, collaborating with artists such as Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Xzibit, Eminem, 50 Cent, Fabolous, Mos Def, and Ludacris.

In addition to his successful collaborations, Nate Dogg released three studio albums and a string of moderately successful solo singles. His life took a tragic turn in December 2007 when he suffered a stroke, which left his body’s left side weakened. He suffered another stroke several months later, and in 2011, he passed away at age 41 due to heart failure resulting from complications of multiple strokes.

Nate Dogg’s legacy lives on through his children, who have pursued careers in music and sports, as well as through the countless artists he has inspired with his unique blend of hip hop and R&B, known as “gangsta singing.”
