Marvin Watson Jr., better known by his stage name Messy Marv, is an American rapper born on March 19, 1976. Hailing from the Fillmore District of San Francisco, California, Marv began his career in the mid-90s and is also known for his collaboration with the rap group Kaalman’s Krew.

Messy Marv’s career faced a significant setback when he served twelve months in jail on weapons charges in 2007. However, he made a strong comeback with albums like Cake & Ice Cream 2 and Blow: Blocks and Boat Docks, both of which charted on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Marv continued his upward trajectory with the release of the hit mixtape Da Frank Lucas Dat Neva Wore Da Mink Coat in 2012, which included the hit single “You Gotta Pay Me.”

In 2013, Marv adopted the moniker LilPaperdupMess and announced the release of his LP Playboy Gangsta, which featured singles “We Killas,” “Beautiful Kalifornia,” and “A Girlfriend Ain’t What I Need.” Marv’s collaborations continued as he worked with Montana Montana Montana, Joe Blow, Ap.9, and Fed X on the single “World Wide Mob” in 2014.

Despite his success, Marv’s career has been marked by several feuds with other artists, such as Obie Trice, San Quinn, Spider Loc, Mistah F.A.B., and Philthy Rich. These conflicts have often led to a series of diss tracks exchanged between the artists, garnering attention within the hip-hop community.

In 2018, Messy Marv and San Quinn reconciled and released a 12-song compilation titled Joc Nation (Well Connected). Later that year, Marv signed with Mozzy Records, solidifying his place in the industry.
