Ronald Fields, known professionally as Cougnut, was an American rapper hailing from the Lakeview neighborhood of San Francisco, California. He was born on January 11, 1968, and passed away on September 4, 2001.

Fields was the frontman of the rap group Ill Mannered Posse (I.M.P), and later went on to pursue a solo career. He was recognized for his raspy voice and street credibility, which he showcased through his music. One of his most prominent releases as part of I.M.P was their 1996 album, Ill Mannered Playas, which was released through In-A-Minute Records. Fields collaborated with several notable artists throughout his career, such as JT The Bigga Figga, Master P, Andre Nickatina, Da’unda’dogg, Sean T, and RBL Posse.

Fields was one of the most well-known rappers in the Bay Area during his prime, from 1993 until his untimely death in 2001. He was frequently requested for compilations and features, which helped to solidify his place in the rap community.

On September 4, 2001, Fields was killed in a car accident in Northern California. Despite his early passing, Fields left behind a legacy in the rap world, which can be seen through his discography. His work with I.M.P includes the albums I.M.P. Dogs (1990), Back in the Days (1993), and Ill Mannered Playas (1996). Additionally, he contributed to numerous compilations and guest appearances on albums throughout the 90s and early 2000s, including The Soundtrack (by Apt.3) and Bay Area Playas 3.
